InstaCode 2008 is not a new app or a website, but it’s been quite popular all the same. This is because InstaCode 2008 is a typeface designed to be used in coding. The lettering has been designed for speed and readability, with its many tails and curves cutting down on line length. This means that programmers can more easily read through their work from start to finish, saving time and preventing errors in their code. The font group behind InstaCode 2008 includes some of the most respected designers in the industry: Jonathan Dernier, Carol Twombly, René Biederot who were commissioned by Google to create this typography specifically with coding in mind. The group also includes Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum's Director of Design & Digital Initiatives, Caroline Baumann. The font was on display at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City, and on April 26, 2008, the typeface was released to the public under a CC Licence.
