Prey 2 Demo PC 24: Explore the Mysterious Space Station in the Year 2032

Kotaku reported in May 2013 that development of Prey 2 had moved to the Austin, Texas division of Arkane Studios, who at the time were completing their work on Dishonored. Kotaku's report claimed that because of the rumored split between Human Head and Bethesda, Bethesda had been "shopping around" for a developer to pick up the title. Among those that had been rumored to be considered included Obsidian Entertainment, who were said to have worked on the title for a few months, and Rebellion Developments, who refused the offer.[23] From this report, additional rumors surfaced including that the work that Human Head had completed by this point was only for a demonstration version and far from a completed game, a claim denied by Human Head developers.[16] Arkane, Bethesda or ZeniMax did not comment on this information at this time, but Hines denied rumors of Arkane's involvement in early August 2013.[24] However, a week after this, several internal emails from Arkane revealed that they had been approved to work on Prey 2, which they wanted to mold as a spiritual successor to System Shock. To this end, Arkane scrapped all of the previous work by Human Head for their vision of the game.[25][26][27][28] Neither Arkane or Bethesda have commented on these reports.[25]

According to Colantonio, it's a matter of managing resources. "We couldn't do a demo on both the console and on the PC, we had to choose. And besides, PC has Steam. Steam players can just return the game [prior to playing] 2 hours so it's like a demo already."

Recently, Arkane Studios released a short, free demo for Prey ahead of its May 5 launch date. However, the demo is only available on PS4 and Xbox One, motivating some players to question why there isn't one for PC.

In addition, he explained that the developer chose to focus on consoles because players on PC can play the game for up to two hours after launch and get a refund for it, due to Steam's refund program. "Besides, PC has Steam," he stated. "Steam players can just return the game [prior to playing] 2 hours so it's like a demo already."

Prey launches this Friday, May 5 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can currently download the opening-hour demo for Xbox here and for PS4 here. You can check out the game's launch trailer at the top of this article, and keep an eye on GameSpot for more about Prey in the coming days.

The story of Ringo and her team unfolds in a glitzy Japanese metropolis. Within this city of regular citizens, to whom demons are only myths and stories, there are cities that only Devil Summoners can enter called the Realms. Realms are said to be veiled from the world by a barrier imperceptible by regular humans. In this city, demons freely mingle with Devil Summoners, with facilities for summoners that allow demon fusions, COMP enhancements, and information gathering.

With a long history, they have lived alongside normal humans, adapting themselves into the societies and time periods they occupied. Forging contracts with demons, they wield powerful abilities to solve paranormal incidents incomprehensible to regular humans. On the other hand, there are also summoners who take part in more illicit activities, like violence and assassinations. There are factions of devil summoners, and in the process of trying to avert the world's end, Ringo becomes involved with two opposing ones in particular: the Phantom Society and Yatagarasu.

A special gadget that assists devil summoners with their ability to summon demons. The shape of COMPs depends on each person, and some may choose to use and modify them with accessories and items they're emotionally attached to. Ringo's COMP has been altered with Aion's technology, and it can be directly equipped with demons.

Spiritual entities that have lived alongside humans since time immemorial. Not always malevolent, as deities and fairies are also collectively referred to as demons. Devil Summoners are able to form contracts with them, and tap into their powers through COMPS. At a certain location, it's said there are rituals to combine demons to create new ones.

No PC demo for Prey can't be a good sign. The game is being the developed by Arkane Studios, the same team behind Dishonored 2's tragically broken PC launch. The demo will be available one week ahead of the scheduled launch on 5 May 2017 and will grant console players the privilege of sampling the game's first hour.

Shortly after Dishonored 2 launched last year, some Arkane higher ups were boasting, during a , about how Prey's PC performance will be nothing like the mess of a release their previous game experienced on the platform. That was 4 months ago. The absence of any announcement of a PC demo does not fill us with confidence.

This doesn't necessarily mean that Prey's will be another minor disaster from a performance standpoint, because it will run on the CryEngine, as opposed to Dishonored 2's modified version of idTech5. Bethesda might also decide to release a PC demo after all.

Submerge fully underwater and hunt for AI fish and avoid being chomped by prehistoric crocodiles. Lurk just under the surface and lunge out of the water to surprise unsuspecting prey. Traverse the complex redwood river system and explore the depths of the swampy lakes. Make the most of your environment to survive as a semi aquatic hunter!

crazy! i bought prey 1 a long time ago and i just sat down this past weekend and played through it. it was actually pretty good if not just a little repetitive. i'm going to be writing about it in my next blog actually.

The influence of System Shock is indeed felt; the bulk of the demo takes place in an industrialized research facility overrun with horrors, the player uses future tech is used as a means to deliver upgrades and items, and the entire game is set on a station floating through space. 2ff7e9595c
