The Passion of the Christ is an emotionally charged dramatic depiction of the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus. Brought to you by Mel Gibson, this film tells the story in a way that will never be forgotten. The actors are all top-notch and there is no musical score, save for one memorable choir singing at key moments. The focus is on the dialogue and facial expression changes between JC and Pontius Pilate, who are truly two interesting characters. Pilate is portrayed as a man who is just doing his job, trying to please Caesar and Caesar's people, and who wants nothing to do with the whole crucifixion. The high point of the movie occurs at this moment when Pilate washes his hands in front of his crowd. It is truly a powerful scene, drawing out the themes of guilt and responsibility. It clearly shows that no one is innocent. If you haven't seen it yet, it truly is a must-see for everyone. My Own Personal Review: Since I watched this movie I have wondered how much more painful on screen Jesus' death had to be on him... I remember at the moment the spear went into his side, my first reaction was to cry out "Oh no, not My Lord." The thought of Jesus feeling so excruciating pain had not occurred to me. But having watched this movie, I can now see how much He really suffered. His facial expressions showed this. Yes, I feel that he could have done something about it (knowing that He was God), but it is hard to blame Him if the Romans didn't believe in Him. He did let them know that "you are Moses" and if they killed Him it would be like they killed the one true judge of Israel (which they did do). I believe that because of this, I could really see how much His followers loved Him. The movie does make you wonder if he knew he was going to suffer and leave them and us, but at the same time it makes you understand why their love for Him was greater than their hate of the Romans.
